Trader drowns in Palawan

A businessman was killed when he drowned while swimming the other day in Helicopter Island, El Nido, Palawan.

The victim was identified as Oliver Tan Ong, 45, resident if Barangay Buwayang Bato, Mandaluyong City.

Reports reaching Camp Crame showed that the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. at Helicopter island.

The incident was reported to El Nido Municipal Polive station by Melussa Rodriguez Martinez, Spanish national and friend of the victim.

Martinez claimed that the victim together with his friends were in an island tour at Helicopter when the incident happened.

Ut was learned that the victim refused to wear life jacket when he dived to swim near their boat.

After a few munutes, the victim was seen floating unconscious in the water.

He was rescued by his friends and tried to revive him until they reached the shoreline of El Nido and rushed him to Medical City but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.
