Trader, mechanic held for grave threats, gun raps in Or Mindoro

POLICE on Friday arrested a businessman and his mechanic-friend on charges of grave threats and illegal use of firearm inside a resto-bar in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, Police Regional Office 4-B director, Brigadier General Tomas C. Apolinario Jr. said yesterday.

The official identified the two as Gregorio Añonuevo Jr., a 32-year old businessman from Barangay Pag-asa in Bansud municipality and mechanic Esmael Untalan,43, a resident of Bgy. Banus in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro.

According to Apolinario, the suspects were arrested on the complaint of Tristan Jamilla,40, also a businessman from Quezon Street in Bgy. Zone 3, Pinamalayan town.

An investigation sho-wed that the complainant and some friends went to the Oinky’s Bar and Grill located in Bgy. Marfrancisco at 1:10 a.m. Friday to have some drinks.

The complainant said he saw the suspects standing near the entrance of the bar before they occupied a table. When he sat on a chair, the complainant said the two also occupied a table in front of them.

He said he was shocked when one of the two men later identified as Untalan looked at him and pulled up his T-shirt to show a pistol tucked in his waistline. The bar’s CCTV footage showed this.

Apolinario said officers who arrived in the area arrested the two after ordering the businessman to surrender the firearm to them.
