Trainer aircraft crash-lands in Ecija ricefield

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – A two-seater Cessna plane carrying a flight instructor and a female student-pilot yesterday crash-landed in a rice field in this town.

Rescuers rushed to the crash site in Bgy. Homestead 2 and found the two pilots unharmed.

The crash occurred at 7:35 a.m. yesterday but was reported to the police at 8:20 a.m. on the same day.

Town police head Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito identified the pilots as Boni Sorgon, 31, a flight instructor of Bgy. Libsong West, Lingayen, Pangasinan, and Maria Thalia Zeth Limpin, 22, a student of Fast Aviation Academy and a resident of Bayang Luma 5, Cavite.

Desamito said her men immediately responded to the area and brought the two pilots to the Dr. PJGMRMC for medical check-up.

The trainer aircraft was on its way back to Lingayen when the crash occurred.

An investigation showed engine failure caused the accident.
