Troops capture 4 ASG bandits

SECURITY agents early morning yesterday raided a suspected Abu Sayyaf hideout in Zamboanga City where they arrested four suspected extremists and seized a cache of bomb materials following a coordinated effort which foiled another terror plot by the ISIS-inspired group in Western Mindanao, Police Regional Office 9 director, Brigadier General Froilan F. Quidilla said.

In a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Oscar D. Albayalde, the official identified the arrested suspects as Aljiver Habibula, 35, Omar Julaspih, 22, Rody Marail, 36 and Nash Amik,32, all suspected members of the terror ring who were caught inside their rented house in Manggal Drive in Baliwasan Grande, Zamboanga City 3 a.m. yesterday.

Quidilla said that combined operatives from the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, Military Intelligence Group 9, the PRO9 Regional Intelligence Division, Task Force Zamboanga, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, the Zamboanga City Police Station and the PRO9 904th Regional Mobile Force Battalion were involved in the successful anti-terror operation.

The PRO9 director said that armed with a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9516 or illegal possession of explosives,  security troops searched the house in Manggal Drive where they arrested the suspects and confiscated materials being used to manufacture powerful improvised explosive devices.

They include five 40mm live ammunition, four non-electric blasting caps, one electric blasting cap, detonating cord, suspected ANFO or Ammonium Nitrate/Fuel Oil which is a widely used bulk industrial explosive placed in a plastic container, electrical tape, stranded electric wire with different colors, magnetic wires, scores of common nails, a round bamboo containing suspected ammonium nitrate, 19 live 5.56 ammunition and two cellphones believed set to be used as a triggering device by the suspects. their neighborhood.
