Troops overrun New People’s Army training camp in Quezon

COMBINED troops from the Police Regional Office 4-A’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the Army’s 801st Brigade on Wednesday overran a New People’s Army training camp in General Nakar, Quezon.

Recovered at the suspected NPA camp in Bgy. Canaway in General Nakar municipality were five sacks of rice, several rice containers, components of improvised explosive device which include 10 blasting caps, six pieces of 1.5-volt batteries, one 9-volt battery and three pounds of suspected ammonium nitrate, one bandolier with four long M-16 and three short M-16 magazines, 120 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, 90 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, one Baofeng radio, a cable wire measuring about 15-feet, two radio charges and suspected NPA documents.

PRO4-A director Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza said security troops stumbled upon the NPA training camp after engaging some 30 heavily-armed rebels in a firefight.

He said that the guerrillas who were manning the site were believed to be led by Jordan Mopon alias “Ka Boyong” of the NPA’s Platoon 4-A 2, which is under the rebels’ Sub-Region Military Area 4-A operating in Calabarzon region.
