LIPA CITY, Batangas – A 43-year-old truck driver was shot and killed by an unidentified assassin while waiting to unload cargo at the parking lot here the other day.
The victim who died on the spot was identified by the Lipa City Police Station chief Lt/Col Antonio Rotol Jr. as Alberto Caba Jr., with live-in partner, a native of Biga City, Calapan, Oriental Mindoro and residing at Phase 1, Ecoverde Subdivision, Bgy Quilib in Rosario town.
Initial investigation disclosed that around 2 p.m. at Lucky 4A parking lot in Purok 4, Bgy. Pinagkawitan this city, the victim together with some other truck drivers were all seated on the dirt and waiting for the cargoes to be unloaded.
Suddenly the suspect came from nowhere, approached the victim and shot him several times using an unknown gun.
The bloodied victim flattened on the dirt and died instantly while the suspect fled on foot to an unknown direction with the weapon used.
Also here, the local police head said two persons identified as businessman Ronald Rivera and his driver Rey Consurte while on board a Toyota Super Grandia van were shot by two motorcycle-driving men while traversing the highway in Bgy. Tambo heading to Remix Batching plant located at Bgy. Rizal, at 8:45 a.m. on Monday.
The suspects immediately fled on board their motorcycle.
