SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – An old house owned by former municipal vice mayor and film director Jose “Kaka” Balagtas in Bgy. Biliran was allegedly burned down by unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects on Friday night.

Ito ang bahay ko sa Barangay Buliran, San Antonio, Nueva Ecija na sinunog ng mga demonyo, kung sino man kayong gumawa nito, sumpain kayo ng Dios,” Balagtas, who served as municipal vice mayor from 2010-2013 and 2013-2016, posted on his Facebook account.

Balagtas said he was in Manila during the incident.

The movie director’s son, town councilor Adonis L. Balagtas, who lives on Cando St., Bgy. Poblacion here, said their house was built in 1999.

The younger Balagtas said fire authorities are still probing the incident and have yet to reveal the cause and origin of the blaze and the cost of damage to the property.

Balagtas said his father is not running for any public office next year and is in fact helping Senator Manny Pacquiao in launching the solon’s political plans for 2022.
