AN ex-policeman wanted for a murder case was arrested by members of the Regional Intelligence Division of the National Capital Region Police Office during a manhunt operation in Olongapo City last Monday, NCRPO director, Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar announced yesterday.
Ex-Police Officer 1 Eliaz Gamboa, 45, was tracked down in his hiding place in West Bajac-Bajac in Olongapo City at 11 a.m. Monday by agents of the NCRPO-RID headed by Colonel Glicerio C. Cansilao following days of surveillance, the official said.
According to Cancilao, Gamboa went into hiding after he was accused of stabbing to death his 60-year old lover Victoria Pangilinan inside their Manila abode. After being on AWOL status for years, the NCRPO leadership ordered his dismissal from the service.
Eleazar said that considered as one of the country’s most wanted persons and is the subject of a P145,000 bounty offered by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the dismissed policeman was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Tita Bughao of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 1.
Eleazar said that the suspect, a resident of Bgy. Concepcion East in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija is now being held at the NCRPO-RID office pending his turnover to court.
