THREE most wanted persons, one of them a retired Army soldier were arrested in a string of manhunt operations in Cagayan and Isabela provinces last Saturday, Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Jose Mario M. Espino said yesterday.
Espino identified the suspects as Romulo Villar, a 67-year old retired Armed Forces officer; Emerson Pagaduan, 37, and Kenneth Gamata, 38.
He said that Villar was tracked down in his hiding place in Barangay Paitan in Bayombong, Nueva Viscaya by the local police and was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for homicide issued by a local court.
On the other hand, Pagaduan, a carpenter residing in Bgy. Centro in Sta. Ana, Cagayan was arrested for a robbery case. A warrant for his arrest was issued by a Sta. Ana Regional Trial Court.
Gamata, a laborer was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for estafa issued by a local court in Aparri, Cagayan. Espino said that local policemen served the warrant of arrest issued against Gamata in his residence in Bgy. Minanga.
All three are now being held in local police stations pending the issuance of commitment orders on them, said the Cagayan Valley police director.
