POLICE Regional Office 9 director, Brigadier General Jesus D. Cambay Jr. yesterday announced the arrest of 12 known drug dealers in Western Mindanao, one of them a Marine trooper following a string of anti-narcotics operations in the region on Tuesday which led in the confiscation of some P100,000 worth of shabu.
The official identified the arrested suspects as Junpee Turque,26, Anthony Turque,21, Dante Pabayos,29, Boths Pangulima,33, Aldren Ferolin,32, Albert Jimenez, 49, Aldrin Salih,42, Abdulmuin Jainuddin,48, Hussin Paradji,40; Hamza Dagam,52, Laurence Garcia,31, and Private Florence Paul Cuarto, a 24-year-old member of the Philippines Marines assigned with the Marine Battalion Landing Team 2 in Tawi-Tawi City.
Cambay said Garcia and Cuarto were arrested by members of the PRO9 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, the Zamboanga City Police Station 8 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Upper Calarian in Zamboanga City around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Recovered from the suspects’ possession were three plastic sachets containing some P1,000 worth of shabu and a marked P1,000 bill paid to them by an agent.
On the other hand, the Turque brothers and Pabayos were arrested after they conspired to sell drugs to an undercover officer in Bgy. San Roque in Zamboanga City. Recovered from the trio were 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing an estimated P4,000 worth of shabu and two marked P100 bills.
Pangulima on the other hand was arrested in Purok Malinawon in Bgy. Poblacion, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur after he sold three grams of shabu worth P25,000 to a poseur from the PRO9 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit.
The suspect was found in possession of three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and a marked P500 bill paid to him by the agent.
Ferolin, a resident of Purok 3-A in Bgy. Daanglungsod in Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte yielded five plastic sachets containing some P13,000 worth of shabu and a marked P500 bill during an entrapment operation conducted by the local police.
Jimenez on the other hand was arrested in a buy-bust operation along Cherry Drive in Zone 4, Bgy. Tumaga in Zamboanga City which resulted in the recovery of about P3,000 worth of shabu and two marked P100 bills.
Meanwhile, Salih, a construction worker was arrested after he sold some P2,000 worth of shabu to an agent along Daisy Road in Bgy. Guiwan in Zamboanga City. The suspect yielded five plastic sachets containing the prohibited drugs and three marked P100 bills.
Cambay said suspects Jainuddin, Paradji and Dagam were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by members of the Zamboanga City Police Station 10 along Talisay Drive in Ayer Village, Bgy. Sta. Barbara.
Recovered from the trio were four plastic packets containing an estimated P47,000 worth of shabu and the boodle money topped by two marked P100 bills.
Cambay said all suspects are now facing charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
