West Mindanao cops collar 2 wanted rapists

TWO most wanted rapists in Western Mindanao were arrested by agents of the Police Regional Office 9 in separate manhunt operations in Zamboanga del Norte on Wednesday and Thursday, PRO9 director, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis D. Licup announced yesterday.

The suspects were identified as Jerry Baguiso, 30, the 10th most wanted person in Leon Postigo municipality and Eric Pon, 50, a resident of Dipolog City.

Licup said that members of the Leon Postigo Municipal Police Station captured Baguiso during an operation in Barangay Midatag at 11 a.m. Thursday. The suspect was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Reymar Lacaya of the Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte Regional Trial Court Branch 9.

On the other hand, Pon was arrested by members of the Dapitan City Police Station during an operation in Purok Kalamunggay in Baybay Galas at 6 p.m. Wedneday. The suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by the Dipolog City RTC Branch 9 on December 28, 2015.

Licup said that no bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of each suspect.

The official commended the local police for their latest accomplishment in the PRO9’s campaign against most wanted persons in the region.
