PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP DEG) director, Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee yesterday announced the arrest of the wife of a detained ‘high-value target’ in Central Visayas after she sold 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000 to an undercover officer in Cebu City on Sunday evening
In a report to PNP chief, General Debold M. Sinas, Lee identified the arrested suspect as Cheryl Bariquit Angcon, a 32-year old common-law wife of jailed drug personality Rommel ‘Ome’ Lim.’
Lee said that around 6:30 p.m., undercover officers from the PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit 5 led by Captain Sigmund Freud Cruz, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Cebu City Police Office arrested the suspect in Sitio Tabo Canal,Barangay Pardo, Cebu City.
Recovered from the suspect were 100 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P680,000 and the buy-bust money.
Lim who was previously arrested in an anti-narcotics operation conducted by the Cebu City Police Station 7 which led to the seizure of 500 grams of shabu worth P3.4 million.
“We have information that following the arrest of Lim, his common-law wife continued his illicit drug activities acting on instructions from the latter and using his drug connections,” Lee said.
The suspect is now under the custody of the DEG-SO5 5 and facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Lee.Publication Source : People's Tonight
