Zambo sting nets 8, P2M shabu

EIGHT known drug trafficking personalities in Zamboanga City were arrested by the local police in separate buy-bust operations last Wednesday which led in the recovery of some P2 million worth of shabu, Police Regional Office 9 director, Brigadier General Froilan F. Quidilla said yesterday.

Quidilla said that members of the Zamboanga City Police Office headed by Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir conducted simultaneous anti-narcotics operations in different barangays in the city in line with their stepped-up crackdown against illegal drug trafficking and abuse in Western Mindanao.

Those operations resulted in the arrest of online shop dealer Rohel Samla, 31;  a student named Merhana Almirante, 21; Mavvin Hatang, 32; Arshid Sali, 22; Sahipa Jimlah, a 60-year-old van operator; Marlon Castro, 29; Abdusaboor Sangongot, 40; and Allim Nur Omar, 24.

Quidilla said that Samla, a resident of Porcentro, Guiwan and Almirante, of San Jose Gusu were arrested by anti-narcotics officers led by Major Mark Anthony Karanain during a sting in Massachussets Drive in Bgy. San Jose. Recovered from their possession were an estimated P1.7 million worth of shabu and the boodle money topped by two marked P1,000 bills.

Sangogot, a security guard and Omar were arrested while conspiring to sell some P3,000 worth of shabu to a poseur in Sta. Barbara area. Policemen led by Maj. Arian Dalumpines recovered three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing illegal drugs and the buy-bust money topped by two marked P100 bills from the suspects.

Castro, of Canelar Moret was arrested  by officers led by Maj. Ramon Bautista during a sting inside the Atilano Compound. The suspect yielded three sachets of shabu worth P4,000 and three marked P100 bills paid to him by a poseur.
