ILOILO City’s power utility More Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) yesterday slammed the old utility Panay Electric Co. for allegedly misinforming the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) on the power outage numbers in Iloilo City.

Senate kicks off PhilHealth probe

The inquiry was initiated through resolutions filed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Senators Panfilo Lacson,  Kiko Pangilinan and Leila de Lima as allegations of widespread corruption in PhilHealth gained traction following a controversial meeting of PhilHealth officials and members of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet.

The enemy is COVID, not the gov't -- solon

“Siguro panahon na para mag-isip kayong mabuti, tama ba na nakatutok ang armas ninyo sa gobyerno? Baka mas dapat na naka-tutok yan para makatulong kayo sa pagsugpo ng COVID. Kung artista ka, bakit hindi mo gamitin ang impluwensya mo para manawagan na manatiling nasa bahay ang ating mga kababayan? Kung ikaw ay nasa oposisyon, malayo pa ang halalan, bakit hindi muna tayo magkaisa?" he added.

Indeed, the issue of energy security has long-term repercussions that go beyond the power industry. “Energy security is a crucial factor in protecting and upholding our national sovereignty, so we can keep domestic economies running at full power,” said APEC party-list Rep. Sergio C. Dagooc. He pointed out that with COVID-19 causing a strain on the global supply chain, it is no longer practical to keep relying on foreign fuel sources.
