No. 2 most wanted car thief captured

A MAN tagged as the 2nd most wanted in the list of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group for his involvement in car theft in the country was arrested by PNP-HPG agents inside the City of Dreams Hotel and Casino in Pasay City at 10 p.m. Wednesday, PNP-HPG director, Brigadier General Eliseo DC Cruz said yesterday.

Suspect Randy Tan Villanueva was arrested on the strength of two warrants of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 issued by Judge Augusto Jose of the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 133 and Judge Liezel Aquiatan of the Muntinlupa City RTC Branch 206 respectively, the PNP-HPG director said.

Cruz said that officers of the HPG Task Force Limbas-Special Operations Division under Lieutenant Colonel Samson Belmonte arrested the suspect following a tip from an informant. He said that Task Force Limbas operatives led by Major Arnel Sagun rushed to the posh casino armed with the two search warrants after getting an information that the suspect was staying in the area.

Cruz said that Villanueva was immediately taken to the SOD-Task Force Limbas headquarters shortly after his release for documentation and further questioning prior to his presentation to court.
