No PH casualties in Turkey quake

THERE have been no reports of casualties or injuries among Filipinos so far following the 6.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey’s Aegean region on 30 October 2020, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday.

In a bulletin, the DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Ankara “sought out news from the Filipino community groups under its jurisdiction and has so far not received any reports of casualties or injuries.

The DFA, through the Philippine Embassy, continues to monitor the situation and stands ready to assist fellow Filipinos affected by the earthquake, it added.

There are a total of 3,063 Filipinos in Turkey as of December 2019.

At least 22 have died and more than 700 others were injured when the quake occured in Turkey’s Izmir province.
