A House leader has slammed the purported “no vaccine, no work policy” of some companies as the country rolled out its anti-coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) vaccination program.
House Assistant Majority Leader and ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Niña Taduran said no one should be forced to get the vaccine in order to get work or keep his job.
Aside from this, Taduran explained it is impossible to be vaccinated when the country lacks the supply to inoculate the working population.
“There is no basis for the ‘no vaccine, no work’ policy. The President himself said that nobody can be forced to be inoculated. Each person has the right to refuse to be vaccinated,” Taduran said.
“Although I am encouraging everyone to erase the fear being attributed to the new vaccine, I still believe that vaccination against COVID-19 should be voluntary. Walang pilitan,” Taduran added.
The reported policy does not have the support of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Taduran noted.
Taduran instead recommended that all workers should remain strict in complying with the health protocols.
“Huwag pa ring magtatanggal ng mask kapag nasa lugar na ng pinagta-trabahuhan. Maghugas ng kamay at mag-alcohol. Palakasin ang immune system at mag-ingat sa paghawak-hawak sa mga nasa paligid. At kung may nararamdamang mga sintomas ng COVID-19, magpahinga muna at magpasuri para matiyak na hindi makakahawa sa kanilang mga kasamahan sa trabaho,” Taduran said.
