The Northern Luzon Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines (NOLCOM, AFP), through the 1st Civil Relations Group, CRSAFP, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Region 3, SM City Clark, Tactical Operations Wing, Northern Luzon Philippine Air Force, and 7th Civil Military Operations Battalion, conducted “Sining Para Karagatan WPS Atin Ito: WPS Victory Day Exhibit and Poster Making Contest” to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the West Philippine Sea (WPS) Victory Day on July 12, 2025, at SM City Clark, Pampanga.

This significant event honored the landmark ruling on July 12, 2016, where the Permanent Court of Arbitration invalidated China’s claims over the West Philippine Sea. It served as a platform for creative expression and advocacy, highlighting the importance of protecting the country’s interests in the WPS, raising awareness about national sovereignty, and promoting unity among the community.
The highlight of the event was the poster making contest, where 95 participants from Region III unleashed their creativity to express their understanding and support for the WPS advocacy. Their artworks showcased their artistic talents while conveying powerful messages about national pride and unity.

The commemoration also featured a series of engaging activities designed to raise awareness and inspire the general public, particularly the youth, about the importance of national sovereignty and maritime rights. These activities included film showings, a photo gallery exhibit, distribution of WPS and AFP recruitment leaflets, and a “Post-it Support WPS”.
Meanwhile, unity and solidarity among Filipinos prevailed in the winning artworks, selected by a panel of seven esteemed judges after a meticulous judging process.

Christine Joy R. Miranda from Bamban, Tarlac, was awarded first place, receiving a cash prize of PHP 10,000, a medal, and a certificate of recognition. Aliah Ayriz S. Jimenez from Good Samaritan Colleges took second place, receiving a cash prize of PHP 5,000, a medal, and a certificate of recognition. Valino V.
