NDRRMOC, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) led a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) scenario-building session today at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (NDRRMOC) to address the possible impacts of Tropical Depression Isang and the Southwest Monsoon.
OCD Officer-in-Charge, Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito R. Alejandro IV, presided over the hybrid meeting alongside Undersecretary Diana Rose S. Cajipe of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the NDRRMC Alternate Vice Chairperson for Response. Participating agencies included DOST-PAGASA, DILG, DSWD, DENR-MGB, DPWH, DICT, DOH, DA, OCD Regional Offices, AFP, PNP, BFP, PCG, DHSUD, NAMRIA, DOE and the PCO.
Under the guidance of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr., and with the strong support of Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr., OCD and its partners continue to strengthen coordination and ensure timely actions to safeguard communities from potential hazards.
“We will continue with our work and remain on blue alert. We intend to remain vigilant from now until Monday. However, we hope the weather will get better before then and that there will be no need to raise the alert status to red,” OIC Asec Alejandro said in his closing statement.
Presently, OCD and its partners continue to monitor the weather condition, but prepositioned goods and other preparations are already underway should the situation turn more serious. Taking strides to mitigate potential disasters, Albay Governor Noel Rosal ordered the evacuation of residents of Barangay Masarawag as a precautionary measure against possible lahar flows and flooding. Masarawag, located near the foot of Mayon Volcano, remains highly vulnerable to rain-induced hazards, making early evacuation vital to ensure the safety of the community.
Through this PDRA, OCD and partner agencies show their commitment to disaster readiness and resilience, working around the clock to ensure that the Filipino people remain safe and informed.
