A total of 1,055 families and seven individuals were evacuated in the city of Manila during the onslaught of severe tropical storm ‘Kristine‘.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna said that based on a consolidated report from the city’s department of social welfare chief Re Fugoso, the said affected families were brought to various evacuation sites.
There, they were provided with basic necessities like modular tents, food and hygiene kits, among others.
The chairmen of the affected barangays thanked Lacuna for the swift assistance, even as the mayor also paid them a visit to check on their condition, accompanied by Fugoso.
Barangay chairman Bubut Igus of Barangay 20 covering the areas of Isla Puting Bato and Parola in Tondo even took to the microphone to extend the gratitude of his constituents to Lacuna for the city government’s swift action amid the typhoon.
According to the final consolidated report from Fugoso, the mayor said that the number of families that needed to be evacuated came mostly from the first district of Tondo, numbering 574 in all. They were brought to the Delpan Covered Court, Green Building OVP Evacuation Center, Bldg. 3 evacuation center and the barangay 105 covered court and were from barangays 128, 101, 20 and 105.
In District 2 still in Tondo, 39 families from Barangays 199, 200 and 194 and three attached individuals were brought to the barangay halls and evacuation centers.
In District 3, a total of 136 families and two unattached individuals from barangay 275 were brought to the Delpan Evacuation Center.
In District 5, two unattached and 39 families from Bgy 775 and 740 were brought to the multi-purpose hall and barangay hall, respectively.
In District 6, the affected familied totaled 286 coming from Barangays 598, 895, 894, 893, 607, 903, 897, 901, 902 and 606 also had to be evacuated to the Likha and Damka Evacuation Centers, Barangay halls, covered courts and multi-purpose halls, Cardinal Church and the Baseco Atienza Elem School.
As of this writing, Fugoso said the families are beginning to go back to their respective homes.
