MORE than 3,000 residents suffering from various kinds of grave illnesses have been given monetary assistance by Mayor Honey Lacuna via her ‘People’s Day’ which is being held on a regular basis in City Hall since she assumed office in 2022.
It was learned that the recipients of such financial help from the lady mayor are mostly sick individuals who have cancer or are undergoing dialysis treatments.
While the amount being handed over to the ill residents is not enough to last them up to the end of their needed treatments, Lacuna said the cash aid is expected to ease their need for money to spend on necessary laboratories and other medical tests like scans.
The ‘People’s Day’ is being augmented by Lacuna through her ‘Kalinga sa Maynila‘ program, where she brings the heads of various departments, bureaus and offices that are sought the most by residents who troop to the Manila City Hall for their needs.
After each program, Lacuna, accompanied by Vice Mayor Yul Servo, would personally visit bed-ridden residents in their homes to provide them with help in various forms.
A doctor, Lacuna would also personally check on the medical condition of the residents she visits, to determine the kind of help they particularly need.
Apart from this, the mayor would also visit the homes of centenarians in Manila to personally deliver P100,000 incentive from the local government of Manila for residents who reach the age of 100.
