P1.5-M worth of shabu seized by BOC-NAIA at CMEC

A parcel containing P1.5 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, better known as shabu, was seized November 13, 2024, at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City by authorities from the Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA).

In coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), the BOC-Customs intercepted the parcel which was shipped from California.

District Collector Yasmin Mapa reaffirmed BOC-NAIA’s relentless efforts to prevent the entry of illicit goods into the country.

Mapa said the shipment was addressed to a recipient in Taguig City and that it was flagged during a routine inspection after which it was found to contain 230 grams of illegal drugs.

The seized drugs were turned over to PDEA and further investigation will be conducted for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio emphasized the agency’s commitment in combating drug trafficking.

“This interception is a product of the heightened security measures of the Bureau to protect our borders against any attempt to import illegal drugs,” he said.
