P1.8M shabu seized in Zambo

A 32-YEAR-old ‘high-value target’ in Western Mindanao was arrested by agents of the Police Regional Office 9 after he sold some P1.8 million worth of shabu to an undercover officer in Zamboanga City last Wednesday, PRO9 director, Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro E. Ylagan announced yesterday.

The susoect, Nurbaser Abubakar Sakandal, a resident of Bgy. Campo Islam, Zamboanga City, yielded three large plastic packets containing about 150 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P1.8 million and the P100,000 worth of boodle money topped by two marked P100 bills, said Ylagan.

In a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Debold M. Sinas, the PRO9 director said undercover officers of the Zamboanga City Police Station 11 Drug Enforcement Unit led by Major Chester Natividad arrested the suspect during a sting on Don Toribio Street in Bgy. Tetuan at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect is facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said the official.

Ylagan commended the Zamboanga City police force headed by Colonel Rexmel Reyes for their latest accomplishment in their war on drugs.
