P1M shabu seized from housewife, brod-in-law

A 31-YEAR-OLD housewife who continued her husband’s illegal activities and her brother-in-law yielded more than P1million worth of shabu during a buy-bust Thursday evening in Navotas City.

Kathrice Leongson and her brother-in-law Mark John Melejor, 28, both of Bgy. San Roque, were arrested at around 9 p.m. along Taurus St., Bgy. San Roque by elements of Navotas Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) after the suspects sold a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 to a police-poseur-buyer.

Navotas police deputy chief for operations P/Lt. Col. Antonio Naag said Leongson’s husband was previously arrested by Malabon police in an anti-drug operation but the case against him was dismissed.

The suspect’s husband was arrested in a drug sting by elements of the Navotas Police SDEU and is now locked up in jail. His wife Kathrice allegedly continued his illegal drug trade in partnership with her brother-in-law.

Media representative Ismael “Ka Maeng” Santos who witnessed the inventory of the confiscated evidence said 147.6 grams of shabu placed in a brown paper bag with standard drug price worth P1, 003, 680 and the marked money consisting of two P500 bills were seized from the suspects.

The arrested suspects were presented for inquest proceedings before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for selling, possession and conspiracy of dangerous drug under R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
