THREE inmates at the Guiguinto Municipal Jail in Bulacan being run by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology were arrested for possession of an estimated P2 million worth of shabu early evening Sunday, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe announced yesterday.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Valeriano T. de Leon, the official identified the arrested detainees as Julius Francisco alias ‘Mayor,’ John Reynaldo Palileo alias ‘Jr.’ and Khalman Llamosa alias ‘Jokjok.’
“We are now investigating why a huge volume of illegal drugs were found in possession of the three inmates, two of them arrested while carrying shabu outside the municipal jail. Definitely, some heads will roll because of this,” said Cajipe.
The official said that members of the Bulacan PPO’s Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Bulacan and Guiguinto Municipal Police Stations searched the Guiguinto jail following an information from an arrested drug trafficker that a person detained at the said jail was the source of the shabu recovered from him.
Cajipe said that with the assistance of the local BJMP and Guiguinto Mayor Ambrosio Cruz Jr., a so-called ‘Greyhound Operation’ was conducted at the said jail located in Barangay Poblacion 6:30 p.m. Sunday resulting in the confiscation of the huge volume of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and the arrest of the three suspects.
The official said that prior to the raid, a known drug trafficker in the province he identified only as alias’ Boy Hilot’ was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in Bulakan municipality last Saturday.
“The arrested suspect confessed that the alleged source of the drugs recovered from his possession was an alias’ Mayor’ who is being held at the Guiguinto municipal jail on charges of illegal possession and sale of prohibited drugs,” said Cajipe.
The Bulacan police director said that the ensuing search resulted in the arrest of Francisco who was found in possession of 18 big plastic sachets containing the prohibited drugs. On the other hand, Palileo and Llamosa were arrested after they were caught unescorted outside the jail facility and hwile in possession of two large plastic packets containing the same drugs.
Cajipe said that the total volume of shabu recovered from the trio was 300 gams or roughly P2 million in the underground market.
The official said that the presence of killer typhoon ‘Rolly’ did not stop them from conducting the anti-narcotics operation. He added that he has ordered a thorough investigation into how the drugs managed to enter the jail facility undetected by BJMP personnel and why the two suspects were found to be outside the facility and carrying drugs when they are supposed to be in their cell.
Criminal charges for illegal possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the three suspects as of press time, Cajipe said.
