P3.4M shabu seized from 3 Quiapo peddlers

A BUY-BUST operation conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Quiapo, Manila on Tuesday afternoon resulted in the arrest of three drug traffickers after they conspired to sell 500 grams of shabu worth P3.4 million to an undercover officer, PDEA chair, Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva announced yesterday.

The arrested suspects identified as Abolkahair Mapandi, Jamila Mapandi and Cathy Fatima Ampatoa are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the PDEA chief said.

According to Villanueva, the three were arrested in a sting conducted by members of the PDEA Regional Office 3 and the National Capital Region Office with the assistance of the Manila Police District Station 3 along Gonzalo Puyat Street in Quiapo around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Recovered from the suspects’ possession were half-a-kilo of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill. All three are now being held at the PDEA national headquarters’ lock-up facility, said Villanueva.
