P3-M at stake in Laban ng Lahi Platoon Run

MOST of the foreign participants who have expressed their intention to participate in the “Laban ng Lahi Platoon Run” in Bislig, Surigao remain committed despite the postponement of the event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Originally scheduled on Sept. 18, the event is now tentatively scheduled on December or “when the situation finally gets better.”

Laban ng Lahi founder-president and Philippine Air Force Capt. Joenel Pogoy said he is confident the run will be a huge success despite the current health crisis.

“Right now, excited ang lahat na matuloy ang Laban ng Lahi kahit nagkaroon ng postponement from September to December,” said Pogoy during the 9th “Usapang Sports on air” by the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) yesterday.

“Nakikipag-coordinate kami sa lahat para tiyakin ang tagumpay ng karera bagamat wala pang nakatakdang petsa lalo na kung mag-worsen ang pandemya at wala pang vaccine ,” explained Pogoy during the weekly public sevice program sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

He said the organizers are still waiting for the green light from the IATF.

“Once may clearance na that we can start, that’s the time. We already have our sponsors for the P3-million cash prize, including P1-milion from Sen. Manny Pacquiao. We also already have a minimum of 50 participants in our entry list.”

He also assured that even the senior participants will be asked to follow the necessary safety and health protocols being imposed by the IATF.
