P374K shabu seized from 3 drug peddlers in Lipa City

CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas — Three suspected drug peddlers were arrested by joint operatives during a buy-bust in Lipa City, provincial police PIO chief Police Lieutenant Mary Ann De Villa Espina said the other day.

A report to Batangas police director Col. Rex Arvin Malimban by Lipa City Police Station commander Lt. Col Antonio G. Rotol identified the suspects as Mely Hermosa Baniaga, 57, a native of Tiaong, Quezon and currently residing in Bgy. Zone 4, Talisay, Batangas, Ma. Louiela Viray Diokno, 44, a native of Ugong, Pasig City, and Maximo Ambe Anoyo, 50, tricycle driver, residents of Bgy. Sta Cruz, Sto Tomas, all in Batangas.

Rotol said they recovered eight packages of suspected shabu weighing approximately 55 grams with an estimated value of P374,000 from the three suspects in the operation conducted by joint operatives of the OPD-Drug Enforcement Unit and Lipa City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), at around 10:30 p.m., in Bgy. Police also recovered marked money worth P100,00, a pouch, three cellular phones and a motorcycle.

The suspects are facing charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” (Republic Act 9165).

The suspects had been previously arrested for the same offense.
