SAN JOSE CITY — A suspected drug courier was nabbed after transporting in a dump truck some 55 kilograms of marijuana bricks worth P6.6 million which were seized during a joint anti-illegal operation conducted here on Thursday.
Provincial police director Col. Jaime O. Santos identified the arrested suspect as Erwin Mariano, 21, tricycle driver, a native of Purok 27, Upper San Carlos Heights, Baguio City, and of Bgy. Samoki Lingkawa, Riverside, Bontoc, Mountain Province.
Santos said Mariano’s two other cohorts identified as Jayson and Sammy Damaso, both of Sadanga, Mountain Province, eluded arrest.
Lt. Col. Criselda Y. De Guzman, city police head, said the operation was conducted in Bgy. Tayabo at 5:10 a.m. Thursday.
Seized were 55 kilograms of marijuana bricks worth P6.6 million loaded in a Isuzu dump truck with plate number NOF-271, P279,000 worth of boodle money a P1,000 peso bill used in the buy-bust, a .22 caliber revolver with six bullets, mobile phone, wallet with various IDs and radio baofeng.
De Guzman said the marijuana bricks were placed in five boxes.
Santos said the arrested suspect is tagged as one of the alleged illegal drugs couriers operating in Regions 2, 3, Cordillera and the National Capital Region.
His alleged contact was a certain Jayson and they reportedly delivered at least 50 kilograms of marijuana bricks monthly depending on the demand.
