PA, PAF, partners give relief goods to typhoon victims in N. Luzon

IN response to the needs of the Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses victims, the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division, Philippine Army in partnership with local government units, nom -government organizations, other peace stakeholders, reservists and the Philippine Air Force (PAF) launched the #Cagayan de Oro helps Cagayan Valley and the #Northern Mindanao helps Northern Luzon relief operations.

Subsequently, the relief goods from well-meaning donors were fully delivered and distributed to the affected families in Cagayan Valley through the OCD Region 2 and the 5th Infantry Division on December 23, 2020.

The seven sorties were executed from November 26, 2020 to December 23, 2020 by the PAF via C295 andC130 aircraft that hauled the relief goods from Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro City to Tuguegarao City Airport. The relief goods have a total weight of 61,857 kgs and benefited 9,147 households. A full C130-load of relief goods was also delivered to Catanduanes which was also badly hit by the typhoons.

Major Gen. Andres C. Centino, commander of 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, have fittingly extended his grateful appreciation to the kind-hearted donors that included the LGUs of Cagayan de Oro City and Gingoog City, the people of Cagayan de Oro City and some parts of Northern Mindanao, NGOs, Army Reservists, the Philippine Air Force and the Diamond Troopers for their invaluable support and effort in this very important endeavor.

This noble undertaking showed the genuine concern of the people in this part of the country to the affected people in Cagayan Valley and Catanduanes.

Centino concluded the activity with this message, “I call on everyone to remain vigilant and be prepared to respond to any emergencies for we cannot predict when a typhoon or earthquake will hit us. Your Diamond troopers in partnership with the LGUs, the NGOs and other concerned stakeholders are always ready to extend necessary help and support. Rest be assured that we are ready to give our full commitment on these noble undertakings”.
