Part of tower crane collapses in Pasay

Tower

PART of a crane tower from a condominium building under construction collapsed and crashed on the roof of the Lions Club clubhouse office Sunday before dawn in Pasay City.

No one was reported killed or injured on the incident that occurred at around 1:05 a.m. that caused fear among stay-in employees who were sleeping at the other side of the office.

Pasay City Public Information Office (PIO) head Jhun Burgos said Mayor Emi-Calixto Rubiano ordered City Engineer Edwin Javaluyas to summon on Monday the general manager of the HQC Equipment Building Corporation that served as contractor of the building under construction on Lions Road to shed light on the incident.

Javaluyas will also invite the officers of the Lions Club Pasay to hear their alleged previous request from the Office of the Mayor for temporary stoppage of the construction of the building until they comply with the comprehensive safety rules and policy to prevent construction related incidents.

Officers and members of the Lions Club Pasay were still worried since half of the crane tower was still clinging on the rooftop of the 32-storey construction building, posing danger to the lives of employees and people passing along the Lions Road.
