PASAY City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano has ordered the local Pasay Social Welfare and Development Department (PSWDD) to immediately provide assistance to a solo mother and her daughter who, apart from being a child with special needs, is also suffering from a number of medical conditions.
Luzviminda Gabriel, of Barangay 40, posted on Facebook that she needed help for the medical treatment of her child, Angela Gabriel, as well as for their daily food and other essential provisions.
“Tulong po para sa gamot at maintenance ni Angela at adult diaper po. Hindi po siya nakakakita, nakakasalita. Madami siyang diperensya. Mild hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, meningocele,” Gabriel added.
Luzviminda narrated that she used to earn an income from direct selling and from doing other people’s laundry. She likewise admitted that she was relying on whatever help or alms she could get from other people.
“I am a mother myself, and I understand that a mother would do everything within her means to be able to get help for her child. In this case, the only way that she could think of to be able to do this was through a post on social media where she gave some basic details about them and their plight. That is why the Pasay LGU immediately responded to her plea.” Mayor Emi said.
Mayor Emi said she had instructed PSWDD Officer in Charge Potchoy Sahirul to get in touch with the mother and child, and extend to them all possible assistance.
