Pasay mayor tests positive for COVID

PASAY City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano is undergoing self-isolation after testing positive for Sars-CoV-2 which causes the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The mayor however clarified that all of the Pasay LGU’s services would continue to be provided to their constituents and all programs and projects would continue to be implemented.

Mayor Emi said an employee of City Hall had tested positive and she was exposed along with other employees.

I received the result of my swab test on February 8, and it confirmed that I tested positive for the coronavirus,” Mayor Emi said. The mayor is in stable condition and in isolation.

The LGU has implemented the necessary health protocol, and contact tracing is underway for those who might have directly interacted with the mayor.

I have instructed all the heads of departments and offices and all other officials of the Pasay LGU to ensure that all the programs, projects, and services of the city government would not be affected by this development. I will likewise still perform my part in the LGU’s operation through the use of technology such as Zoom, Viber and the telephone, and through whatever means possible,” she added.

The coronavirus does not choose who to infect. Let us not be complacent but continue to be careful and cautious. This likewise highlights the reality that we really need the vaccination, and our continuous prayers to our Almighty God,” she added.
