NO Jayson Castro, no problem for Talk N Text.
Roger Pogoy and four other players scored in double figures as Talk N Text made it five wins in a row by beating Blackwater, 109-96, in the PBA Philippine Cup at the AUF Sports Arena in Angeles City.
Pogoy finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in another solid effort for Talk N Text in the NBA-inspired PBA bubble in Pampanga.
Pogoy’s hot shooting night included the first eight points for the Tropang Giga.
Bobby Ray Parks, Troy Rosario, Simon Enciso and Poy Erram also scored 14 points or more to underscore Talk N Text’s balanced scoring attack near the halfway mark of the short one-round-robin eliminations.
Parks finished with 18 points, Rosario added 17, Enciso contributed 16 and Erram had 14 for Talk N Text.
“Kailangan talaga may hunger. Alam naman ng mga players namin what is at stake at kung ano ang ipinunta namin sa bubble,” said Talk N Text coach Bong Ravena.
“We’ll not take any team for granted. We’ll still be always go hard,” added Ravena, who decided give Castro a rest following tightness on his right calf during the warm-up.
Pogoy said the absence of Castro did not take away the focus of the team.
“Ganyan talaga, pag may injured, kailangan step up ang ibang players. Tulong-tulong kami,” said Pogoy.
“Sa sistema lang ako kumukuha ng points; hindi individual effort. Sumusunod lang kami sa sistema ni coach,” added Pogoy,
Former Talk N Text player Don Trollano led Blackwater with 23 points, followed by Mac Belo with 16. Blackwater dropped to 2-3
