PBBM, DSWD chief get warm welcome from Aetas in Porac, Pampanga

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Friday (October 3) joins President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as the Chief Executive visited the Aeta beneficiaries of the agency’s Pag-abot Program from Katutubo Village, Barangay Planas in Porac, Pampanga.

Highlighting the Chief Executive’s visit to the community was the distribution of livelihood assistance such as cash aid and farm implements to some 127 members of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) group.

The beneficiaries were reached out by the Pag-abot Program from the streets of San Fernando City, Pampanga and reintegrated back to their respective sitios in Porac town.

PBBM and DSWD welcomed from Aetas

The provision of assistance to the Aeta community is part of the efforts of the Marcos administration to provide sustainable sources of livelihood to the members of IP groups so that they need not go to the urban areas to seek help.

Joining the President and the DSWD Secretary were Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Porac town Mayor Jaime Capil, and Vice Mayor Tricia Angelie Capil.

Other DSWD officials present in the activity were Undersecretary Edu Punay of the Innovations and Programs Development Group (IPDG), Asst Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG), and Concurrent OIC Deputy Program Manager Marlyn Moral of the Pag-abot National Program Management Office (NPMO).
