PDEA chief welcomes latest batch of trainees

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) welcomed members of the Drug Enforcement Officers Basic Course (DEOBC) Class 2021-19 who took their oath at the PDEA Academy, Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda, Silang, Cavite.

DEOBC Class 2021-19 is composed of 94 agent-trainees- – 63 males and 31 females – – out of the 1,074 applicants who passed the rigid tests and examinations conducted on February 29, 2020 and March 1, 2020 by the Recruitment, Selection and Placement Board (RPSB) of the Agency in testing centers in Davao City, La Trinidad, Benguet, Cebu City and Quezon City.

PDEA Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva said the selection process of the new batch is the first under his watch, and considered distinct due to the pandemic.

The new batch of agent-trainees will undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine prior to the six-month rigorous training to have an opportunity to become part of the country’s premier anti-drug law agency.

Villanueva said members of the class will be molded into principled, professional, accountable and excellence-driven individuals after their training, thus, boosting the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
