PDEA seizes P20M shabu in Taguig

COMBINED agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Southern Police District (SPD) early evening Monday seized some P20.4 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust in Taguig City which led to the arrest of two ‘high-value targets’ and their minor accomplice, PDEA chair, Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva reported yesterday.

The official identified the two arrested ‘HVTs’ as Jaynard Pamittan and John Jever Gujilde. The name of the 3rd suspect was withheld due to his age.

Villanueva said the trio were arrested 6:30 p.m. Monday during a sting at the Market Market open parking lot in Taguig City conducted by members of the PDEA National Capital Region and PDEA Regional Office 4-a with the help of the SPD District Investigation Division and the Taguig City Police Station all under Brigadier Gen. Emmanuel B. Peralta and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Recovered from the suspects were three kilos of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill and two mobile phones they used in making contact with the undercover officer.

A black Honda City with plate no. ALA 5893 used by the suspects to transport the drugs was also impounded by the PDEA.

The suspects are facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The minor will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development as the law says.

It was the latest major bust conducted by the PDEA.

Last Saturday, PDEA officers also arrested three ‘HVTs’ in Metro Manila following separate raids in Caloocan City which led to the seizure of some P300,000 worth of shabu.

Villanueva identified the suspects as Aloysius Jacinto, the subject of the raid at no. 81 Pioneer Street in Barangay 148, Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City ; Bobby Aguilar, the owner of a suspected drug dive at no. 112 Bulacan St. in Bgy. 148; and Bob Lester Cabrero.

Recovered during the raids were 13 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P122,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested inside the residence of Aguilar were three men believed to be clients of the latter.

The raids were conducted on the strength of separate warrants for violation of RA 9165 issued by Caloocan City Judge Raymundo Vallega.
