PH agri production up

THE agricultural production in the country has increased by 0.7 percent in the third quarter of 2020 in view of the increases in crop and fisheries production.

This was according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) stating that the crop production has contributed largely in the total agricultural output with 52.7% as its production increased by 4.8%.

Palay and corn production improved by 15.2% and 3.5%, respectively.

The PSA, however, reported that the production output for livestock and poultry declined.

Livestock production decreased by -7.6%. It accounted for 17.5 % of the total agricultural output. Hog exhibited a -7.7 % drop in output.

Poultry production, which shared 14.0 % in the total agricultural output, was -3.8 % lower during the period. Production of chicken was down by -7.2 %.

Fisheries registered a 1.9 % output increment. It contributed 15.8 % to the total agricultural production. Higher production growths were noted for bigeye tuna at 39.9 %, Bali sardinella at 31.5 %, and blue crab at 25.5%.

At current prices, the value of agricultural production amounted to P 404.6 billion, higher by 4.1% from the previous year’s level.
