Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna announced that the Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital (JJASGH) gained various recognitions from the Philippine Hospital Association (PHA).
As such, Lacuna commended JJASGH Director Dr. Merle Sacdalan-Faustino and all the staff in the said hospital for their tireless efforts in bringing the hospital and its services to greater heights.
Lacuna, who is also a doctor, expressed pride that all of the city’s six district hospitals manage to gain awards for their achievements, amid her continued call for them to continue innovating for the purpose of better delivery of free health services to Manilans.
For her part, Faustino-Sacdalan shared the award with all her co-workers and attributed the success of their hospital to the team’s joint efforts, saying she could not have accomplished so many things alone and without the help of all those behind the day-to-day operations of the JJASGH.
The awards garnered by the JJASGH are as follows: Overall Winner, Level 1 Hospital; Best in Hand Hygiene; Best in Environmental Cleaning and Decontamination; Best Infection Prevention Control Nurse, Level 1 Hospital.
JJASGH also landed 3rd place in the PHA Handwashing Best Practices Tiktok Video: People’s Choice Award.
Just recently, Faustino was also hailed as the regional winner of the “Dangal Ng Bayan” Awards by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for the quality of free medical services being offered in the JJASGH, which is one of six district hospitals being run by the city government of Manila.
The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. represented by external affairs director Nelson Guevarra also praised the efforts of Faustino and her staff in providing the best possible free hospital services in the third district of Manila.
In the wake of all the said awards, Faustino said she and her team vowed to continue thinking of ways to further improve the services that the JJASGH gives to the residents of Manila and even those living outside of Manila who come for help, as she enjoined the hospital staff to continue their dedication and hard work they provide for the patients.
The Dangal ng Bayan (DNB) Award or Outstanding Public Officials and Employees’ Award for exemplary ethical behavior is conferred on individuals for performance of an extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of observance of the eight norms of conduct provided under Republic Act No. 6713, or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. These are: commitment to public interest; professionalism; justness and sincerity; political neutrality; responsiveness to the public; nationalism and patriotism; commitment to democracy and simple living.
It was learned that the JJASGH was also awarded with ISO 9001:2008 Certification on July 8, 2016 and has successfully transitioned to the latest version ISO 9001:2015 on August 8, 2018. An ISO Certified institution means it follows international standards, procedures and service quality.
