FOR carrying 1,100 grams of marijuana kush concealed in a plastic marble pot and with a street value of P1,540,000, a Filipino passenger was arrested by Bureau of Customs (BoC) officials at the Ninoy Aquino international Airport (NAIA) Terminal shortly after arriving from Bangkok, Thailand.
In his report to NAIA-Customs district collector Yasmin Mapa, assistant deputy collector for Passenger Services Mark Almase identified the passenger as Magnolia Paaño Buenio, 34, of Molino, Bacoor Cavite.
It was learned that the passenger arrived on board Cebu Pacific flight 5J930 from Bangkok and was arrested by Customs Inter-agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG) authorities after her checked-in luggage was found to contain marijuana Kush as it underwent X-ray scanning and physical examination.
According to Almase, Buenio’s luggage contained one brown box with one plastic marble pot wrapped in a styrofoam, containing 1,100 grams of marijuana Kush, when examined in the passenger’s presence.
Said passenger was arrested in violation of Section 4 of Article ll of RA 9165 while the drug evidence were submitted to PDEA for laboratory services and inquest proceedings.
