Pinoys in Thailand told to be vigilant

THE Philippine Embassy in Bangkok reiterated its advise to Filipinos to remain vigilant amid ongoing protests In Thailand.

In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, the Philippine Embassy also told Filipinos to avoid public gatherings.

Filipinos were also advised to observe security measures, abide by the laws, rules and regulations In Thailand.

On Thursday, Thailand’s government a state of emergency it had declared earlier in an effort to cool massive student-led protests seeking democracy reforms.

The student-led movement is demanding the resignation of Prayuth Chan-ocha, a former general who seized power in a 2014 coup and last year became prime minister after a controversial vote.

The protesters are calling for a new election, amendments to the constitution and an end to the harassment of state critics.
