PHILIPPINE National Police personnel remain on top of all rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations in Luzon areas ravaged by powerful typhoon ‘Ulysses’ last week, PNP chief, General Debold M. Sinas said yesterday.
The top cop said they are getting all needed assistance from the Armed Forces, different local government and non-government agencies and organizations and their different stakeholders in their effort to bring aid to victims of the typhoon.
Sinas and his Command Group, PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, Lieutenant Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar and PNP Deputy Chief for Operations, Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne R. Binag yesterday led the send-off ceremony for six trucks of relief goods from the PNP national headquarters that will be transported to Cagayan Valley.
The trucks will join four additional 6×6 trucks of relief goods from the Police Regional Office 3 headed by Brigadier Gen. Valeriano T. de Leon.
PNP Director for Police-Community Relations, Brig. Gen. Rhodel O. Sermonia said the relief goods include 202 sacks of rice, 50 boxes of noodles with each box containing 72 pieces of noodle packs, 250 kilograms of sugar, 500 mineral water, condiments, brooms, face shields, face masks; blankets, used clothes; 265 pieces of raincoats, 300 of search-and-rescue vests and 52 pieces of search lights.
The Police Community Affairs and Development Group headed by Colonel Eric Noble also donated 1,000 bags of relief goods containing rice, canned goods, noodles and condiments. Two NGOs also donated 700 bags of assorted relief items.
Binag and Sermonia are now in Tuguegarao City to lead the distribution of the relief goods from the PNP, said Gen. Sinas.
“More relief efforts are underway as the Philippine National Police continues to work with different NGOs and stakeholders to meet the immediate needs of the affected communities,” he added.
