TAKING into consideration the major role being played by private security guards in maintaining peace and order in the country, the Philippine National Police has allowed the passage of uniformed guards in Quarantine Control Points in Metro Manila and other parts of the country being manned by security troops in order for them to go to their respective posts.
According to PNP Civil Security Group director, Major General Roberto B. Fajardo, security guards in complete uniform are already allowed passage in all QCPs provided they will present their valid Identification Cards, License to Exercise Security Profession and their Duty Detail Order to officers manning the checkpoints from March 15 to April 14.
Fajardo said the guards are serving as the PNP’s ‘force multipliers’ who play a key role in ensuring order in quarantined zones in the country as they continue to protect business establishments even if they have already been closed or non-operational.
Saying that security in all establishments that cannot be guarded by the police 24/7 is paramount, the official said his recommendation was approved by PNP chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa.
The measure includes the need for the PNP-CSG to guide security managers and security guards in their deployment and regular inspection which is necessary in these challenging times.
The official said they have also approved protocols on the extension of the renewal of the security guards’ IDs and LESPs.
At the same time, Gen. Gamboa likewise approved the extension of expiring License to Own and Possess Firearms, Firearm Registration and License to Operate of security companies during the entire enhanced community quarantine period until April 14 with no penalties at stake.
He said that all concerned firearms’ holders and security guards and agencies may renew their expired licenses and permits at the end of the quarantine period without paying any penalties for the late registration.
