POLO suspends erring agency in Singapore

THE Department of Labor and Employment Saturday reported that an erring Singapore-based employment agency was suspended for refusing to settle the the complaint of a Filipino household service worker.

Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Singapore issued a notice of suspension to Union United Employment Pte Ltd.

Bello said the aggrieved OFW alleged that the agency collected unauthorized fees from her salary and failed to properly document her deployment despite its being a POEA-accredited agency.

The suspension order is effective for 60 days.

With order to cease from the operation, POLO and POEA will suspend all the documentary processing of the erring agency.

The labor chief said the POLO-Singapore has also recommended to POEA the revocation of the agency’s accreditation to prevent it from victimizing more HSWs.
