CALAMBA CITY, LAGUNA — In line with the directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Debold Sinas, the Police Regional Office- Calabarzon has included gun handling and shooting proficiency training as part of its regular activities, police officials said.

Sinas wants to have our policemen especially those assigned in the field to be proficient in gun handling and shooting,” said Brig. Gen. Felipe Natividad, PRO- Calabarzon commander.

Natividad made the statement during a courtesy call of gun club presidents in the region headed by Abel David, president of the Lipa Shooters Gun Club who is also the area director for South Luzon of Philippine Practical Association (PPSA).

The police commander asked the group to keep on assisting the police in its gun proficiency and marksmanship trainings including the usual PPSA- sanctioned matches and exclusive police funshoots organized by police units in the provinces.

Natividad humbly said he is not among the few police generals who are known for being tough and proficient practical shooters but he believes in the importance of being one.

That’ s why we want to develop proficient shooters within our ranks,” Natividad said.

Compared to previous years, Natividad said he noticed that policemen today are more skilled in gun handling and shooting and he attributed it to the presence of active practical shooters of different gun clubs.

He encouraged the group to remain active in its practical shooting activities provided that health protocols will be strictly observed during competitions.

David for his part as PPSA director for South Luzon vowed to keep their commitment in providing necessary assistance to the police.
