PRRD admin’s drive vs. corruption spares no one: Bong Go

MANILA – Senator Christopher “Bong” Go commended the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) for fulfilling its role as the Office of the President’s anti-graft arm during the launch of ‘Project Kasangga: National Anti-Corruption Coordinating Council’ via a virtual convention on September 3.

“This call to action, which includes the whole of government in making sure that good governance is practiced, amplifies the dedication of the Duterte Administration in fighting graft and corruption,” Go said in a video message.

Project Kasangga establishes anti-corruption coordinating councils within government agencies and a national anti-corruption coordinating council chaired by the President.

Its goal is to eliminate graft and corruption involving government officials within the various government agencies, as well as establish a better relationship between PACC and other government agencies in order to carry out Duterte’s anti-corruption drive.

The Senator thanked the PACC for all of its efforts to guarantee that the administration’s aim of eradicating government corruption is carried out.

“Maraming salamat po sa inyong serbisyo upang matupad ang isa sa mga pinakaimportanteng layunin ng pamahalaan na ito – ang sugpuin ang paglulustay sa kaban ng bayan at katiwalian (Thank you for your service to attain one of the most important goals of this government—to end stealing from government coffers and corruption),” Go said.

Despite the government’s efforts to combat the pandemic, he said the government is still committed to fighting corruption.

“Nitong nakaraang taon, nakatutok po ang gobyerno sa paglaban sa Covid-19 at pagtulong sa ating mga kababayan para makaahon sa kasalukuyang pandemya. Ngunit hindi po nangangahulugan na hindi na tuloy ang laban natin sa korapsyon (Last year, the government was focused on fighting Covid-19 and helping our countrymen to recover from the pandemic. But this does not mean that we would stop our anti-corruption drive),” he said.

Go also expressed their faith in and support for government personnel who are honest and hardworking. He did, however, issue a warning to those who will get involved in corruption.

“Klarong klaro po ang utos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte mula noon hanggang ngayon: kapag ginawa mo nang maayos ang trabaho mo at inuna mo ang interes ng mga Pilipino, suportado ka namin (President Rodrigo Duterte’s marching orders are clear right from the start until now—if you’re doing your job and prioritizing the interest of Filipinos, we would support you),” he said.

Go, however, said those involved in corruption, even those close to the President, would not be spared.

He urged the entire government to join the fight against corruption and defend the nation’s dignity by providing honest public service.

In October 2018, Go and PACC also founded the Truth and Justice Coalition, an initiative that seeks to assist the government in fighting corruption by assisting with fact-finding inquiries, lifestyle checks, and other investigations. It collaborates with lawyers, retired public officials, religious leaders, the private sector, and other government institutions to create platforms for citizens to report corruption and reward those who do so.
