In keeping with the commitment of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian to ensure that families affected by the December 2 magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Surigao del Sur are provided with assistance to help them recover, DSWD Field Office-Caraga personnel hold simultaneous cash aid payout under the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) on Tuesday (January 23) in the municipalities of Hinatuan and Barobo.
Some 887 qualified families from Hinatuan and 299 from Barobo are expected to receive Php12,510 each to help them start anew.
Present during the ECT distribution in Hinatuan are Surigao del Sur Governor Alexander Pimentel, municipal mayors, municipal administrators, and staff of the two municipalities. They are joined by representatives from the Disaster Response Management Bureau of the DSWD Central Office led by OIC-Assistant Bureau Director of Early Recovery Services Division Rey Martija, DSWD-Caraga Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes, and other Field Office staff.
The ECT payout will run until January 31 in the rest of the municipalities of Surigao del Sur.
