Quezon cops arrest 4 more bookie workers

LUCENA CITY— Four bookie workers , including a woman, were arrested in separate police operations in Quezon as part of the intensified anti- illegal campaign of the Quezon Police Provincial Office.

Quezon police director, Col. Audie Madrideo identified the arrested suspects as Rufo Malaluan, 38, and Franklin Asilo, 24, Small Town Lottery (STL) collectors and residents of Bgy. Pinagbayanan, Calauag, Quezon; Delfin Mendoza, 56, bookie collector and aresident of Bgy. Putol, Dolores; and Rosalina Limpiada, 27, bookie collector and resident of Bgy. Ibabang Iyam, this city.

Madrideo said the three police operations were carried out by operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit under Major Gaylor Pagala in cooperation with police commanders in the said towns and city.

He added the suspects were collecting bets for STL but remitted their collections to bookie operators using STL as their front.

Madrideo said the arrestes suspects yielded gambling paraphernalia and bet money in different denominations.

The suspects were placed behind bars and were charged with illegal gambling.

Prior to the arrest, Madrideo had ordered all city and town police commanders to keep their respective areas of responsibility free from all forms of illegal gambling activities.
