FOREIGN Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. said formal charges against recalled Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro who was seen in a video maltreating her Filipina household worker will be filed today.

The panel created by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to investigate the allegations of physical abuse will handle the case.

In a tweet on Saturday, Locsin said “Yes. FORMAL CHARGE will be made on MONDAY; it is already in my laptop but this is the weekend wch I spend swimming 5,000 meters a day & recovering therefrom. Then a panel will try her. While this can take a long time it won’t. Pourqua? MOI is SFA. Then I send the judgment to PMS.”

On October 30, a fact-finding team was formed to look into allegations of maltreatment by Mauro.

The Fact-Finding Team will have as team leaders Consul General Ezzedin H. Tago, Sydney Philippine Consulate General: former Philippine Ambassador to Netherlands Jaime B. Ledda CM1; Narciso T. Castañeda Bids and Awards Committee, and Atty. Ihna Alyssa Marie Santos, FSO IV, Human Resource Management Office.

Before the fact-finding team was created, the Office of the President gave the Department the permission to start the investigation of Mauro who was seen on CCTV camera hitting her Filipino household worker on several occasions while in her residence in Brazil.
