Reckless EDSA bus driver suspended

THE Land Transportation Office-National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) immediatly preventively suspended the bus driver of Roval Transport for gross violation of road transport rules and safety.

Lawyer Clarence Guinto, Region Director of LTO-NCR immediately issued Show Cause Order to the bus driver identified Filigrin Lomosco and the operator. The hearing will be on July 27, Monday, at 2p.m.

The move was in respond to the viral video posted in social media that one of the bus units of Roval Transport drove recklessly at the stretch of EDSA hitting a concrete lane separator barrier as it passed by. The barrier then hit a private vehicle driven by Camz Wong that was on the lane adjacent to the Busway. The incident captured by Wong’s dashboard camera was then posted online.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is denouncing the operator and driver of Roval Transport public utility bus (PUB), with plate number NDQ2621, for gross violation of road transport rules and safety as captured in a video by a netizen that was posted in social media.

Quickly, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade has directed both the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to conduct an immediate investigation and issue the necessary show cause order to the operator of Roval Transport and to the driver of the Roval Transport public utility bus involved in the incident through the EDSA Consortium.

The LTO, through Asec Edgar Galvante and Executive Director, Romeo Vera Cruz dispatched patrol cars to the Roval Bus Terminals in Balintawak and Marilao.

Earlier, a speeding Joanna Jesh Transport public utility bus (PUB) with license plate number CAP 5133 also hit  several barriers on the EDSA Busway.

The LTFRB and the LTO have already acted on the matter with dispatch and instituted the necessary proceedings against Joanna Jesh Transport.

“We, at the DOTr, will not hesitate to impose the same appropriate sanctions as warranted against the operator of Roval Transport and the driver involved in the second incident.

“Let this serve as a warning to all our road transport partners that the DOTr, LTRB and LTO will never tolerate this irresponsible and reckless manner of driving by authorized PUBs which poses a danger to life and possible damage to property.
